Logo Questions
and Answers

How long does a logo design take?

The turnaround time for a logo from sales to completion is typically 2-3 weeks, subject to my workload which will be discussed before any payments are made. Timescales are also dependent on response time, and any additional changes to designs.

How many logos do I get?

Following the design phase, you will be presented with 3 logo options based upon agreed objectives. Once final payment has been made, you will own the copyright to the final agreed design.

What if I want to make a change to a logo?

That's no problem at all. When the first set of designs are presented to you I will explain why design decisions have been made. At this point you will have the opportunity to provide feedback and request modifications if required.

You can request as many changes as you want, however up to 4 revision rounds are included within the typical project scope. In the unlikely event that additional revisions are required beyond this, they will be charged at a cost of £30 per revision round, and will be added onto the final invoice.

How does Copyright & Trademark Registration work?

On completion of the logo design project, and once payment has been made, the copyright for the final agreed logo is automatically transferred to you. If needed I can also provide a copyright transfer document to give comfort that the copyright has been transferred.

Copyright protection means that the copyright holder of the work retains exclusive rights to print, display and distribute the design. This is what's transferred to you, and means you can do anything you want with the logo. I only ask that I can include the logo in my portfolio as an example of work carried out.

Trademark registration on the other hand is something that will need to be carried out by a trademark attorney, or you can do it yourself through the government website. If this is something you plan to do I can refer you to a company that I frequently use and can recommend.

Trademarking the logo will allow you to add the ® symbol and it also provides legal protection to anything confusingly similar within the locations and categories you register the logo in. If this is something you plan to do, let me know so I can provide a variant with the ® in the final set of files to use once the registration has gone through.

What if I don’t like the first set of logos at all?

We'll jump on a call, and we'll work together to establish what's not working, why, and we'll work out a direction so we can proceed with the project.

It's worth noting that the designs presented to you will be based on goals agreed with you before the design phase begins. This will include information about your business, competition and target audience. It will also include any specific requirements or expectations you may have, so this is an unlikely scenario.

I focus my design decisions on goals, which I will explain when presenting the designs. This will mean I have considered your business, target audience and competition. As a logo is a strategic tool it doesn’t need to be liked by you personally, but should instead perform for your business, and this is something I will discuss with you.

I will cooperate with you to throughout the project to ensure the design achieves all goals agreed upon, which will include any specific requests made before starting the designs.

It’s unlikely to happen, however, if after attempts to find an ample solution you still dislike the designs presented to you, you don’t need to make full payment. Before starting the project I take 50% deposit which is non refundable, but if you don’t like the work done for you, you don’t need to pay the final 50%. But I will retain ownership of all designs, ideas and work carried out during the process.

What do I get?

Once your logo design is completed I will supply a comprehensive kit of files to allow the use of the logo across various mediums. Below is a summary of what I will provide:

  • CMYK version – Full colour printing is made up of only 4 colours: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. These 4 colours mix together to build up any images you can imagine. You will need this format when you require printed material that displays full colour images on the same page. Provided in Vector (Ai/PDF/EPS) format.
  • Pure black version – Like it says, this version is pure black version of your logo. This is ideal for black and white, or single colour documents. Provided in Vector (Ai/PDF/EPS) format.
  • Pure white knockout – Want to use your logo over a dark photo, or on a solid dark colour? A white version solves colour and visibility issues to give the best result. Provided in Vector (Ai/PDF/EPS) format.
  • RGB version – Unlike print colours, screen colours are made up of Red, Green and Blue, mixing the light of each colour to make up the full colour spectrum. Your logo will be provided as an optimised Jpeg file format, and transparent PNG, as well as SVG, which is a vector version for digital use.
  • Favicon – A 32 x 32 favicon of your logo will be created for use on your website.
  • Copyright Ownership – I will transfer copyright ownership of the final agreed logo.

Geofilter Questions
and Answers

What Is Snapchat?

Snapchat is a social networking app that allows users to send and receive pictures and videos that disappear. Snapchat users can also publish pictures and videos to their "Stories" that disappear after 24 hours after being posted. Think of this as essentially making a Facebook status that disappears after 24 hours.

What Are Snapchat Geofilters (Filters)?

Snapchat Filters, or "Geofilters", are photo overlays that go over Snapchat pictures or Snapchat videos that are exclusive to a certain area. Snapchat Geofilters are set for a specific area, for a specific time frame, and only the people within that given area are able to use the geofilters for their photos or videos, or as Snapchat calls them, their "Snaps".

How Do You Use Snapchat Geofilters (Filters)?

Snapchat geofilters (filters) are photo overlays that can be used in Snapchat photos. Geofilters are exclusive to a specific area and only those within that certain area are able to have access to the Snapchat filter.

In order to use a geofilter on Snapchat, first make sure your location settings are turned on within your Snapchat app. After that, simply take a picture on Snapchat (or as Snapchat calls it, a "Snap") and swipe to the left or right on your device screen. You will then be able to use any geofilter that is currently live within your location.

Why Should I Care About Snapchat Filters?

Snapchat Geofilters are currently all the rage. Geofilters are especially popular amongst young people from the ages of 18 to 34.

Dont believe it? Text someone right now aged 18 to 34 and ask them if they want their own custom Snapchat Geofilter and they undoubtedly will say yes.

The reason for the popularity amongst Snapchat Geofilters, really comes down to a few things. Snapchat Geofilters are exclusive. Only people within the area and proper time frame can use them. This makes Snapchat Geofilters like a private or exclusive club. Snapchat Geofilters create a sense of FOMO (fear of missing out) for every "Snap" that they are a part of.

How Much Is It To Buy A Snapchat Geofilter?

You can view our low package prices here. All prices are inclusive of Snapchat's submission fee, so you do not need to worry about any additional costs.

The only thing you worry about, is if you love the design or if you want us to make any tweaks. We handle everything else for you.

How Long Does It Take To Get My Own Snapchat Filter?

The turn around time from start to finish is anywhere from 2 hours to a few days depending on what you need and when you need your Geofilter by. Once you place your order, we will follow up with you to confirm we are on the same page for the design you want. We will get your design to you within a day or so, again, depending on when you need it.

How Large Is The Area Location Of My Snapchat Filter?

Generally speaking, we aim to keep the location (known as a geofence) to approximately 20,000 sq ft (20,000ft = over 7 tennis courts) around your specified venue. This is more than enough area space.

How long will my Snapchat Geofilter be live for?

You have the options of 6, 12 or 24 hours for the longevity of your Snapchat geofilter to be available to snappers.

Can I Use Hashtags In Custom Snapchat Filters?

Unfortuntately, Snapchat does not currently allow hashtags in geofilters yet. However, we can remove the hashtag infront of the word you want and use that, but if there is a hashtag anywhere on a custom Snapchat Geofilter, Snapchat will not allow it. The reason for Snapchat's ban on hashtags in custom Geofilters, is Snapchat is trying to replace the hashtag entirely. Snapchat wants custom Geofilters to be the new hashtag.

Can I Use Whole Names (First And Last Names) In Custom Snapchat Geofilters?

Unfortunately, Snapchat does not allow first and last names in the same custom Geofilter due to privacy reasons. However, we can put only first names or only last names in a custom Geofilter. But if we try to do both first and last names in a custom Geofitler, Snapchat will not allow it and won't accept the Geofilter to go live. Snapchat has a very sophisticated Geofilter Submission team, so trying to "dupe" them on a Geofilter submission is a very bad idea.

Can I Use Website URLs In Snapchat Filters?

Snapchat does not currently allow website URLs to be displayed in custom Snapchat Geofilters. At the moment, as Snapchat is Snapchat is attempting to push geofilters to the masses, they are making a strong attempt to keep Snapchat Geofilters really kind of "ad-free". However, you can still put your brand's name, logo, and other information about your website on your custom geofilter. You just simply can't put your brand's website URL on your custom geofilter.

Can I Use Social Media "@Handles" In Snapchat Geofilters?

At the moment, Snapchat does not allow social media handles to be used in custom geofilters. Again, because Snapchat is trying to keep the spam out of geofilters as they push geofilters to the masses, they are making a tremendous effort to restrict this type of design. However, interestingly enough, you can still include your social media usernames (or handles as many people call them) without the "@" and your custom geofilter will actually be accepted by Snapchat.

What happens if my Geofilter is not approved by Snapchat?

If your Geofilter is not approved by Snapchat, it could be for any one of a variety of reasons, including but not limited to:

  • Unoriginal Content: All graphics and portions of the graphic must be 100% original. Logos and trademarks, including school crests or similar marks are not allowed.
  • Not visually interesting or useful enough: Make sure all submitted Geofilters are something that people will want to use. Remember, anyone within the Geofence may have access to the filter.
  • Not relevant or too broad: Keep it local. Don't cover an entire country, state, or province. We consider Geofilters for entire cities, but the bigger the city, the higher the bar for quality.
  • Insufficient description: If your filter doesn't speak for itself, tell us why it's important.
  • Incorrectly formatted (PNGs): Make sure your Geofilter asset fits in a 1080x1920 pixel box. Also make sure that the file is not too huge (over 300kb).
  • Non-transparent background: Make sure you export your Geofilter on a background that is transparent. A common mistake is to export on an opaque background.

Remember, we can usually resubmit your Geofilter after remedying most issues.

Flyer Questions
and Answers

What are flyers used for?

Business flyers are a form of advertisement. They usually have a short lifespan. Due to their format, usually single page, smaller than A4, they are great to announce one key message, such as an event, a promotion or new launch.

Are flyers effective?

Yes, but it depends on your strategy. A number of factors must be considered, including message, design and distribution. Not easy to get these three right, and planning plays a major role here, but if you are clear on your objectives, what you want to talk about and who to sell to, flyers will defo help you achieve your goals.

How long does it take to receive a design proof.

Once you pay, you will receive a design proof in 2-5 days. Normally this is closer to 2-3 days, but we do allow more time for when we are much busier.

I don't have a logo, can you design one for me?

Flyer orders do not include a "Logo Design". What we will do is use simple text/shapes to make you a quick logo for the flyer. If you want to be able to get a full blown logo you will need to order a logo design first.

I have a company logo, can you use that to put on the flyers?

Yes just email it over to us, the larger the format the better. If you have a highly complicated logo and you can not provide it we will have to recreate it, there could be a fee for that. Ideally, your logo file would need to be 700-900 pixels wide minimum and on a clean solid background if its a jpeg. If you have a .EPS/.AI/.PSD of your logo then you should be in good shape!

Hosting Questions
and Answers

What Exactly Is Web Hosting?

Whether a large or small business, an institution or private user, anyone planning on creating an online presence will require the appropriate storage space for their future website. This is where web hosting services come into play: the provision of storage space for a website by a hosting provider (also known as a provider). Such storage space is referred to as web space. The provision of web space on a server (a computer designed for this purpose), as well as providing the necessary network connections, is usually done at a cost. To put it simply: the customers rent web space from a web hosting service provider.

In order to be able to offer customers the highest technical standards at such cheap prices, PimpMyDesignz provides web hosting in the form of shared hosting.

Which web hosting plan is the right one for me?

This depends on your requirements. If you are planning a simple website, consisting mostly of static HTML pages and minimal multimedia content, and with manageable data traffic, then our cheap standard package is the ideal option for you. Of course, we also offer more complex Packages that are suitable for dynamic web projects and high traffic.

With our most powerful web hosting packages, you can comfortably manage resource-intensive, multimedia-based websites as well as extensive online shops. Compare the respective product details to find the right web hosting packages.

Why do professional web hosting services come at a cost?

Powerful IT resources and security measures come at a price and must always be state of the art to protect customers' technical infrastructure and data effectively. When it comes to 'free' web hosting plans, we recommend proceeding with caution. First, check if there are any hidden costs. Secondly, many providers tend to display advertising on their customer websites. Even if the free basic features attract you, necessary functions or additional system resources often need to be purchased later. This ultimately results in your 'free' option costing you money.

You can also operate your own server but then you bear the costs of infrastructure, security and maintenance yourself. We offer a professional web hosting service at a cheap price, as well as scalable services as required. Numerous applications like WordPress and Magento are included and can be installed in just one click. We take care of security and technology so that you can devote yourself to your internet presence.

What is the difference between web hosting and a server?

A server, or web server, is part of the web hosting infrastructure. They are powerful computers on which both configuration files and the data of the hosted websites are stored, i.e. websites and all website content. A root server is a server with "root access" to the configuration data of a server. Our web hosting service does not offer root access as we take care of all the necessary configurations for you.
